Whiskey Sour

Let's start with a fact today: some people hate the taste of alcohol. For whatever reason no matter what kind of spirit, beer or wine you give them they will most likely either drink it quickly to not taste it or drink it reluctantly and hate every moment of it. Normally, you can make a cocktail that is so sweet they can't taste the alcohol but there's always that one person that dislikes sweet things (I know crazy right?). So, for that one person in your life that hates sweets, hates the taste of alcohol but still wants to drink, here you go! Here's what you'll need:

  • 2 oz. Whiskey
  • 1 oz. Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 oz. Simple Syrup
  • 1/2 oz. Egg White
  • Cherry or orange slice (Garnish)

For some of y'all, using eggs in a cocktail may sound like the weirdest thing but good thing is you don't actually have to use it! Egg whites have been used in cocktails for a long time but are much less common in the US due to health concerns. The only reason it's used is to make the drink foamier and to add protein. If you don't care for the foaminess, can't eat egg, or simply don't want to, feel free to leave the egg out. If you do choose to add the egg white, remember two things: raw eggs require extra shaking to properly break up and consume raw eggs at your own risk. If you chose to use egg white, first do a dry shake (shake without the ice) to break up the egg and then shake with the ice. Otherwise, just pour all the ingredients and shake!

  1. Pour ingredients into shaker
  2. If you choose to use egg white, pour it in and shake without ice.
  3. Shake it all with ice in the shaker.
  4. Serve and enjoy!
